From Sketch to Symbol
Early concept art for Lucky Fortune Tree went through several rounds of revision before the team settled on the current look. The initial sketches leaned more realistic, but early playtests showed the detail didn't read clearly at small symbol sizes on mobile screens — so the team simplified the linework and pushed the colour palette brighter to keep every symbol legible at a glance, even mid-cascade.
Why a Fortune Tree
The theme draws on the fortune tree, a recurring symbol in East and Southeast Asian tradition representing luck, prosperity, and growth — a natural fit for a game about accumulating wins. Coins, red lanterns, and gold leaves became the core symbol set, chosen specifically because each one reads instantly as a "lucky" object even without text.
Player Feedback Shaped the Final Build
Before launch, an internal playtest round flagged that the original bonus round felt too slow to trigger. The team adjusted the trigger frequency and shortened the bonus intro animation in response — a small change, but one that noticeably improved the pacing testers cared about most.
